About Us
Around the Area, Inc. was formed in 2003 by four Sussex County friends and business associates that recognized the need for a centralized means of storing and making available to the public the resources and activities within the County region. The company's mission is to promote these resources via a sophisticated yet easy-to-use web site application known as AroundtheArea.com.
The company's partners have an extensive background in business and web site development. The CEO, Lynn Lancaster, is a founding partner and Creative Director of Advanced Software Development Corporation (DBA AdvancedGroup.net) and has created numerous web sites for companies in the areas of banking, insurance, automobile, telecommunications, non-profit, health and wellness, and education. She is a member of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, Branchville Rotary, the Sussex County Vision 2020 Committee and the Advisory Board of a local Sussex County bank.
Around the Area, Inc.'s COO, Elaine Petit, contributes a solid background in operations, having worked in various operational management positions for local community banks over the past twenty-one years. As part of her responsibilities with these organizations, she was instrumental in developing the web sites and responsible for the implementation of Internet banking products. Additional responsibilities include the delivery of data and customer support aspects of alternative delivery channels, which include an extensive ATM network, telephone banking and the electronic payments networks.
The Company's CFO, Shelley Lach, spent nearly a decade employed as a CPA with a "Big Eight" accounting firm. Since then she has devoted her time to running her family's century old geotechnical and environmental business, employing over forty people. She has recently expanded her business to include supply well drilling. The company is a certified Women Business Enterprise. In 2001 she began another company that provides laboratory and field testing of soil and concrete. Certified by governing agencies, it offers the construction industry quality control and standards. She is on the Board of Directors of a savings bank with a Sussex County branch, and owns a horse boarding farm in Frankford Township.
Our EVP of Marketing, Deborah Bifulco, works with a wide range of companies, individuals and groups across industries, specializing in coaching and advisory services for small to midsize businesses. She has extensive experience in working with key business executives to successfully identify and analyze goals, define strategic solutions, and implement these solutions. Throughout her career, Deborah has demonstrated the ability to quickly achieve positive results in both top line revenues and bottom line profits.
Deborah also conducts workshops and seminars for companies and organizations. She is known for her high-energy, motivational presentations. Some of the topics she presents are Networking for Business and Personal Success; Guerrilla Marketing; and Extreme Communications - Skills Anyone Can Use.
