What is the AroundtheArea.com web site? Around the Area, Inc. has designed this web site to provide interested parties with information regarding activities, events, services and products available in the the Sussex County area. It is an effort created by members of our community to provide local businesses with an easily accessible, dynamic and innovative means of advertising their services and products.
Why should I list my business or organization on the AroundtheArea.com web site? On an individual basis, it's sometimes difficult to get your message heard. By uniting businesses and individuals under one "roof", AroundtheArea.com allows Sussex County businesses to gain a greater amount of exposure for their marketing dollars.
Registering your business or organization on AroundtheArea.com allows you to control all the information regarding your business, products and services — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have a special sale, an event to promote, or even a change in your services or products, you can make the announcement or the change to your company's information instantaneously.
AroundtheArea.com also offers you the ability to email Site Visitors that have opted-in to receive notices from you.
Is the registration process complicated? Will my information be sold or distributed? The process takes just minutes and the information that we request from you will NOT be sold to third party vendors or suppliers. (We hate spam just as much as you do! See our privacy policy for more details.) You will simply fill out a form that asks for basic information: company name, contact info, description, etc. Once the registration process is completed and your listing is approved, a web site page will automatically be generated that will display your company information, and your company will be listed under the categories that you have selected. As stated above, you can change this information at any time.
Who can participate on AroundtheArea.com? Any business or organization with Internet connectivity that does business or is located in the greater Sussex County area. Individuals that are not businesses or organizations that wish to opt-in to receive emails, participate in the contests or personalize the site to meet their needs and interests may also register for FREE as Site Visitors.
How much does it cost to list my business or organization on AroundtheArea.com? For as little as $20.95 per month ($10.95 per month for not-for-profit organizations, and free for county offices, municipalities and public schools) businesses can participate on AroundtheArea.com. Our fee schedule is listed in detail at the time of registration. Members can choose to pay monthly quarterly or annually, and change their service options on a monthly basis. Who has access to my company information? We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to our employees who need to know that information in order to provide services to you. Our employees are trained to understand the importance of confidentiality and privacy. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information. See our privacy policy for more details.
Can I still participate on the site if I'm not registered? You can view Things to Do, The Mall, Business Services, Community Resources and the Yard Sale without becoming a registered business or Site Visitor.
How do I send out emails to opted-in recipients? Will I know who has opted-in to receive emails from my business? On either the Business Services or the Community Resources page, select the "Send Emails" link. After logging in, click on the "Mail Room" link. The following page will list the number of Site Visitors that have opted in to receive mailings from you, as well as the number of mailings that you've sent during the current billing period. Type in the title of your email in the Subject line, then type in your email message in the large text box below it. Then click the Send Mail button. It's that easy!
As a courtesy to our Site Visitors, we do not list the names or email addresses of people that have opted-in to receive emails from your business or organization. If you would like to identify these individuals and collect their contact information in order to add them to an additional email or e-newsletter list, we suggest that you include a request in your email that they respond back to you to be included.
How do I know how many people have come to my page? Similar to other traditional means of advertising that do not provide individualized statistics (information such as: how many individual people saw your ad in the paper, how many people listened your commercial on the radio, who glanced up to read your billboard, etc.), we do not provide specific information regarding unique visits to individual company pages. We do, however, provide the statistics regarding traffic to our web site (visits, hits, etc.) on a regular basis in our Newsletter.
Please note that most web site hosting services are able to track and provide referring web site visits. Therefore, if you have access to your site's stats, you may find the information regarding "Referring Domains" helpful.
