Q. How can I enter a contest on AroundtheArea.com?
A. In order to enter an AroundtheArea.com contest, you must be a registered visitor of the site. There is no fee for registering as a site visitor! Once you have registered, you can enter any of the contests on the site by clicking the ENTER NOW! button from any contest page.
Q. How often can I enter the same contest?
A. You may enter the same contest once per day.
Q. Can members of my family or household also enter the same contests?
A. As long as they are a registered member of AroundtheArea.com and meet all other eligibility requirements of the contest rules, there is no limitation on the number of entries per family or household.
Q. There are different contests in different categories. How many can I enter at one time?
A. You may enter as many contests as you choose as long as you only enter one contest per category per day.
Q. How will I be notified if I win any of the contests?
A. You will be notified via e-mail or telephone within five (5) business days after the drawing date of your winning entry.
Q. How can I see who has won any of the contests?
A. All contest winners will be posted at AroundtheArea.com.
Q. Will the information contained in my user profile be provided to contest sponsors?
A. If you should be selected as a contest winner, your name, e-mail address and telephone number will be provided to the contest sponsor for notification purposes.

Q. How do I sponsor a contest on AroundtheArea.com?
A. Contest sponsorship is currently available to registered businesses and not-for-profit members of AroundtheArea.com. If you would like to sponsor a contest, click here now. If you are not currently registered with AroundtheArea.com and wish to register with us, please click here to proceed to the Company Registration wizard.
Q. Contest sponsorship is controlled by categories. Can I choose the category that I want my contest to fall within?
A. Yes, to get the most from your marketing decision to sponsor a contest with AroundtheArea.com, you should choose to sponsor a contest within a category that is related to the business or service you provide. Whenever possible, your contest sponsorship should also be included in your overall marketing strategies (i.e.; web site links, media advertisement, etc.) to draw site visitors and customers to your products and services and increase participation in your contest!
Q. How much does it cost to sponsor a contest with AroundtheArea.com?
A. Contest sponsorship is currently FREE to all registered businesses and not-for-profit members of AroundtheArea.com.
Q. Will I be responsible for picking the contest winner?
A. The contest winner will be randomly selected via electronic methods. You will be notified automatically via e-mail on the first (1st) business day of the month following the contest period to go to the web site to initiate the automated process which will select the winner.
Q. How do I post the contest winner on AroundtheArea.com?
A. The posting of the contest winner’s name on the web site is the responsibilty of AroundtheArea.com. It will be done automatically when the winner is selected.
Q. When and how do I notify the contest winner?
A. According to the contest rules you are required to notify the winner within 5 business days of the winner selection process. A name, E-mail address and telephone number will be provided to you by AroundtheArea.com for notification purposes.
Q. Will I receive a list of my contest participants?
A. No. You will receive an email citing the amount of entries in your contest, but not the names of the participants. The contests are designed as a means of gaining additional exposure via the web site for your business, not as a means of building a prospect list. It is an "added value" benefit, currently offered at no additional charge to our business members. If a site visitor would like to be solicited by one or more of our business members, they have the ability at any time to "opt in" to that business's mailing list. This policy ensures a site visitor that they can particpate in the contests and provide their information to us knowing that we will protect them from unwanted solicitations. In maintaining this policy, we can be 100% confident that if an individual contacts us saying, "My email address is receiving spam," we can assure them with total confidence that the spammer did not get their email address from us.
What is the harm of providing a list of participants' contact information to the contest sponsor?
Valid email addresses have become very valuable commodities, and some people have been known to resort to unscrupulous behavior to accumulate them. We have made the choice that we would rather loose a potential contest sponsor because we won't provide confidential participant information, then compromise our reputation, lose our members' trust, or undermine our goals of providing a no-hassle community web site.
Q. Is there a minimum value that my contest prize must meet?
A. AroundtheArea.com does not require that the contest prize meet a certain value, although it is in your best interest - and you will gain more exposure - by offiering prizes that will encourage site visitors to enter your contest. We have found that "coupon" type prizes that require an additional purchase, offer a discount on a minimum purchase, or require a consultation are not as popular as those that offer prizes where there is no additional purchase necessary.
