County government, as represented by the Board of Chosen Freeholders, has significant regional responsibilities for the continued effective management and governance of the following functions and services:
Public Safety and Emergency Management, Community College and Technical School, the County Library System, Social Services, Youth Services, Community Services, Mental Health, Division of Senior Services, our Nursing Home, Environmental and Public Health Services, Mosquito Control, the Medical Examiner's Office, the County Jail and Detention Center, Farmland and Open Space Preservation, Economic Development, Road and Bridge Maintenance and Repair, the Para Transit System and Transportation Planning, Solid Waste Planning, and the County Master Plan, including Water Resource Planning.
As Freeholders, we are proud of our 800+ employees and residents who volunteer on our various boards and committees who provide the services and resources to keep Sussex County running smoothly.
