The mission of Money$mart Week is to promote the financial wellness of Sussex County citizens of all ages and incomes through a variety of interesting and informative FINANCIAL WORKSHOPS presented by volunteer financial experts.
Money$mart Week in Sussex County
May 16 – 21, 2011
FREE financial workshops during the day for Seniors, be held at the County libraries, Hopatcong Civic Center, Knoll Heights Community Center and a day program at Project Self Sufficiency.
“Money Smart U: A Night of Financial Education”
An evening of workshops designed to promote the financial wellness of Sussex County residents. It will be held on Tuesday, May 17th.at Sussex County Technical School. Doors open at 5:30 pm with workshops beginning at 6:00 pm. Bring your high school aged child, have some pizza, mix and mingle with the financial exhibitors and register to win a prize. Workshops include ABC’s of Investing, Advanced Investing, Getting a Good Financial Aid Package for College, The Road to Retirement, Insurance: Protecting Your Assets and Maximizing Your Investment Dollars in Your Home. Living on Your Own: Looking Rich, Being Rich and Be Money Smart will also be presented for high school students. The cost is $10 for adults, $5.00 for students and it includes pizza and a drink.
“Estate Planning: Not Just for the Wealthy”
Held at Lake Mohawk Club on May 19th beginning at 6:00 pm. Every person, regardless of their net worth, should have an estate plan. Come have a wonderful dinner and learn why it’s important to have an estate plan, what are the elements of a plan, and what is needed for a sound plan. It’s imperative to understand the estate planning process as well as the federal and state tax implications to protect your assets. Presented by Bill Kulsar, CPA. The cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Sussex County Money$mart Week promotes the financial wellness of Sussex County citizens of all ages and incomes. It is the only financial education program of its type in New Jersey and one of less than a dozen M$W programs conducted nationwide. M$W began in 2005 and is sponsored by a committee of volunteers that develops a week-long financial education program for local residents.
