Founded in 1952, the Sussex County Oratorio Society is the longest-running choral group in the County. Under the direction of Al Kopacka of Hackettstown, the Oratorio Society presents two concerts annually in January and May, and is active in bringing special music to churches, retirement homes, and other organizations upon request. Members also actively participate in the Ocean Grove Choir Festival in July.
Comprised of men and women of varied backgrounds and interests, this friendly group of vocal musicians meets Monday evenings at 7:45 for rehearsals at Christ Episcopal Church on Main Street in Newton.
Prospective members are encouraged to attend voice placements at the start of the new season in September and January. Please visit our web site or email us at sussexoratorio@gmail.com for more information.
The Sussex County Oratorio Society receives financial support from individual, business, and corporate sponsors as well as grant funding from the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, as administered by the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council.
